KILLSONIC is an East Los Angeles-based 25-piece punk-jazz orchestra, co-founded in 2001 by Michael Ibarra (bari sax, upright bass) and princessFrank (drums). For the last decade, Killsonic has been killing it in the underground music and art scenes of Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco.

Recent gigs include:

  • Let Them Eat LACMA, curated by Fallen Fruit at The LA County Museum of Art
  • Nick Cave: Meet Me at the Center of the Earth at both the Fowler Museum and UCLA’s Royce Hall
  • Austin Young's solo exhibition Your Face Here at Pop tArt Gallery
  • Venue performances at San Francisco's Amnesia and NYC's Le Poisson Rouge.

Killsonic has also staged formal tours of the NYC subway and L.A.'s Metro Red Line – the latter was covered as a feature story in the LA Weekly (Feb 20-26, 2009 / Vol 31).

The group’s original opera, Tongues Bloody Tongues, debuted in July 2010 at the REDCAT in Disney Hall in downtown Los Angeles. A rave review in the Los Angeles Times stated the production “soars on wings of absurdity.”

Current projects-in-progress include a short film adaptation of Tongues Bloody Tongues, a summer tour of New York and Brooklyn, and preparations for an installation in the autumn at the LA County Museum of Art's Annual Gala Ball.
